First Grads Finish Project Management Program
06/19/07

Engineering Professor Keith Plemmons with Franklin Bowles, John Adams, and James Grigg.

Three students who recently received their Technical Project Management (TPM) certificate are the first to complete a graduate program started by the College of Graduate and Professional Studies and The Citadel School of Engineering.

John Adams, Franklin Bowles and James Grigg received their TPM certificates on May 7.

The two-year course of study offers 12 credit hours toward a master’s degree. The program helps engineers and other professionals develop practical project management skills by teaching them how to apply an integrative systems approach to projects. Classes are held at the Lowcountry Graduate Center.

“Adult students bring a lot of experience and knowledge into a classroom,” said Engineering Professor Keith Plemmons, the program’s instructor.  “We build on that knowledge through adult-oriented instruction techniques and active class involvement.”

Bowles, an independent contractor working with SPAWAR, said the TPM program helped him gain “a comprehensive and integrated understanding of the project management processes required to successfully execute projects in today’s environment.”

Those interested in the certificate program must first take Engineering 650, Overview of Technical Project Management.

More information about the program is available by contacting Plemmons at 843.953.7677 or visiting the website at http://engineering.citadel.edu/TPM.htm.
