09/16/08
The staff of the Lowcountry Graduate Center recently volunteered to help beautify Quarterman Park in North Charleston as part of the Trident United Way’s Day of Caring on September 11, 2008.
The LGC staff joined almost 100 other individuals in planting flowerbeds, installing pinestraw, painting the park’s two signs, as well as many other projects to improve the look of the park for the neighboring community.
Trident United Way’s Day of Caring started in 2000 with a handful of projects and 175 volunteers. Last year 5,100 volunteers completed 250 projects – including two whole neighborhood cleanups – in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Day of Caring brings $1 million in labor and material to area non-profits in one day.
