The Lowcountry Graduate Center (LGC) will soon have a new facility to better serve our students and faculty. Construction has begun on a 50,000-square-foot building at 3800 Paramount Drive in North Charleston with the LGC and the College of Charleston North Campus planning to relocate in early August. In addition to all of the resources that are currently available at the LGC, the new facility will feature a larger library with six study rooms, a student services center, a tutoring center, and a large student lounge with a food services area.
The expanded space will also include nine new high-tech classrooms outfitted for two-way videoconferencing. Some offer dual projection, and all will have high speed wireless internet connections. The facility will house multiple seminar rooms and several, small group breakout spaces that can be used to organize for team presentations and projects, and even one-on-one tutoring rooms. Moreover, we have designed additional power connections to give more students the capability to keep their smart phones and laptops charged and functional.
A well-lit parking lot with 300 free spaces will serve the campus, and security from both the College of Charleston and North Charleston Police Department will be provided. All classes beginning Fall 2014 will be held in the new facility which will be easily accessible from Interstate 526 via exit 15.
