The Graduate School at the University of South Carolina

Founded in 1801 as the Palmetto State College and recharted as a university in 1906, The University of South Carolina is a premier academic and research institution that boasts award-winning students, renowned faculty, and some of the best doctoral programs in the country – according to the National Research Council. The Carnegie Foundation lists USC as a “very high-level” research university—the only one of this kind in South Carolina. The Carnegie Foundation has also given USC its prestigious Community Engagement Classification, which highlights UofSC’s collaboration with its local, state, national, and global communities, making UofSC one of only 40 public universities to receive both designations from the Carnegie Foundation. The Graduate School at the UofSC offers 250+ degree and certificate programs, with students hailing from all 50 states and 83 different countries.
