Founded in 1770, the College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public liberal arts and sciences college located in the heart of Charleston, S.C. In 1992, the College, by state statute, created its graduate school, the University of Charleston, South Carolina, which hosts approximately 1,000 graduate students each year. The Grad School offers 22 master’s degree programs and 9 graduate-level certificate programs. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the College of Charleston No. 8 among Southern public regional universities who offer masters-level programs and No. 5 overall public schools within the South.
